Earlier in the week, Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi said the team’s level of urgency wasn’t where it needed to be in the loss to the Saints.

And if you watched the game, you could see it for yourself. The team was shut out for the first time since 2014. Derek Carr barely passed for over 100 yards and Josh Jacobs couldn’t get his fun game going. The team was outplayed and looked flat.

Coach Josh McDaniels and Quarterback Derek Carr expanded on that thought when they spoke to the media yesterday. When asked about the lack of urgency the team showed Sunday, McDaniels said he thought they had a good week of practice. But what happens in practice doesn’t always translate to gametime.

“That has not been our M.O., that has not been our identity this year,” McDaniels said. “And we’re going to work very hard to make sure that we don’t allow that to happen again going forward. Again, I think there’s a lot that goes into performances when you don’t play very well, and usually there’s a lot of little things that you can do better. So, we’re hard at work and making sure that we try to eliminate some of those things and do better the things we didn’t do well enough.”

Carr followed up those thoughts, saying guys need to have that sense of urgency on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and even off days like Saturday.

“I think that’s what’s going to help us if I’m honest,” Carr said. “I’ve seen it at least the last couple days. Hopefully that stamina of doing it the right way can last throughout the week, and we can play better this Sunday.”
