Robert Spillane capped off a big personal game Sunday with even bigger personal news.
The Las Vegas Raiders survived a late-game comeback by the Jets when the 27-year-old linebacker intercepted Zach Wilson in the final minutes of the team’s 16-12 win.
“I saw Zach Wilson drop back, saw a little route concept into the boundary,” Spillane said of his interception. “Divine Deablo did a great job making them double pump on the throw, which gave me time to get there. So, just good team defense.”
Recording his third interception of the year, Spillane is now tied with Fred Warner (3) and Logan Wilson (3) for the most interceptions in the NFL among linebackers. He also became the first Raider since 2016 to record a sack and interception in the same game.
After the game, he spilled some bigger news to NBC Sports, telling the world his wife is pregnant.
“My beautiful wife will have our first baby here in June. So, I’m looking forward to it,” Spillane said with a big smile after the game.
