With an uphill battle to climb at 2-5, the Las Vegas Raiders hope to have tight end Darren Waller back in action Sunday in Jacksonville.
Waller, 30, is officially listed a questionable for Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, dealing with a hamstring injury that has hindered his through the 2022 season. Suffering the injury Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Waller has missed every game since then, practicing in limited fashion as he rehabs his soft-tissue injury.
Head coach Josh McDaniels reiterated Friday that the tight end’s status is still up in the air, noting that he’s working hard to get back out on the field.
“He’s working extremely hard to try to get back as soon as he can. I know that, and nobody wants to play quicker than Darren does,” McDaniels said to the media Friday.
When healthy he’s one of the best tight ends in the NFL, breaking out in 2020 for 1196 yards on 107 catches that season. His stats were good enough to earn his first Pro Bowl selection in his career that season. Dealing with injuries the last two years, Waller’s production has slipped in Sin City.
