San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw underwent successful surgery on his torn Achilles, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Greenlaw left Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs early with the injury. A few minutes into the second quarter, Greenlaw and the 49ers defense were returning to the field after a Chiefs’ punt when the San Francisco linebacker went down with a non-contact injury. He was eventually carted off the field. Shortly later on the broadcast, the announcers said it was an Achilles injury.
The typical recovery time for a torn Achilles is anywhere from nine to 12 months. He’s expected to miss the start of the 2024 season, but Rapoport says, “he will make a full recovery.”
