It wouldn’t be a 49ers’ draft class without Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch adding a running back, doing so with Issac Guerendo in the fourth round.
The San Francisco 49ers have added the Louisville running back to the mix, trading up to select him with the 129th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. To do so, SF have to trade the New York Jets both of their fifth-round picks this year (173rd and 176th overall), leaving them with only two remaining selections in the draft.

Issac Guerendo, 23, is a five-year player in college, starring for Wisconsin and Louisville. His final year was with the latter, racking up 810 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games played. He also has receiving chops, with 234 receiving yards last season.
Learn more about the 49ers’ previous draft picks below.
Round 1, Pick 31 (13th overall): Ricky Pearsall, WR Florida
Ricky Pearsall, 23, is a five-year college player, spending three seasons at Arizona State University, before transferring to Florida for his final two years. The Arizona native amassed 2,420 receiving yards, 159 catches and 14 touchdowns in 55 games. Pearsall has the ability to play in a variety of roles, both on the outside and the slot. He is also well versed in special-teams, known as a dynamic punt returner.
Additionally, Pearsall was college teammates with Aiyuk at Arizona State, spending the 2019 season together. Now five years later, the pair have been reunited in the NFL on the 49ers.
Round 2, Pick 32 (64th overall): Renardo Green, CB Florida State
Renardo Green, 23, played five seasons at Florida State, spending time at outside cornerback, safety and nickel. He racked up 148 tackles, 22 pass break-ups, one interception and one forced fumble in 41 games played. He is well-versed in press coverage as well, spending 322 snaps over the last two seasons there (third most in the FBS). The Florida native finished with a 86.4 courage grade from Pro Football Focus, third amongst ACC CBs.
He posted a 4.49 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, with a 1.53 10-yard split. Green is known for his instincts and intangibles, playing like a dawg in the secondary.
Round 3, Pick 23 (86th overall): Dominick Puni, OL Kansas
Dominick Puni, 24, played two seasons at Kansas, spending time across the line of scrimmage. He played primarily at tackle and guard over 25 consecutive starts. Punt did not allow a single sack in that timeframe (nearly 1,600 snaps). Prior to that, he spent time at division-two Central Missouri.
The 49ers have needed to draft an offensive lineman (or two) since the end of Super Bowl LVIII. Now they add more in Puni, with the team envisioning him as a swing player on the line. He will mainly be considered an NFL guard however.
Round 4, Pick 24 (124th overall): Malik Mustapha, S Wake Forest
Mustapha, 23, was a second-team All-American last season for Wake Forest. He racked up 80 tackles, five tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and one interception in 12 starts in 2023. He is the 49ers’ fourth selection of the 2024 draft, taking two offensive players and two defensive players, in total, thus far.
