Former San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman may have his NFL first coaching gig lined up.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, new Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh is interested in adding Bowman to his staff as his linebackers coach. The Chargers have not yet announced the move.
Bowman was a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by San Francisco and was with the team until 2017. For four seasons, he was coached by Harbaugh and was a member of the 49ers team that made it to Super Bowl XLVII against the Baltimore Ravens.
During his tenure with the 49ers, NaVorro Bowman recorded 671 tackles, 12.5 sacks, five fumble recoveries, nine forced fumbles, four interceptions and one touchdown. He went on to play one season with the Oakland Raiders before leaving the league.

After he retired, NaVorro Bowman spent three years with the University of Maryland as a defense analyst. If he joins Harbaugh’s staff, he wouldn’t be the only former 49er in Los Angeles. Greg Roman, who was San Francisco’s offensive coordinator for four seasons, has already been hired for the same role in LA.
