Kliff Kingsbury appears to be returning to the NFL.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the former Arizona Cardinals head coach is set to join Antonio Pierce’s coaching staff as his next offensive coordinator. The team has not yet confirmed the news.
After getting dismissed by the Cardinals at the end of the 2022 season, Kingsbury spent the last season as USC’s offensive analyst.
During his time in the NFL, Kliff Kingsbury amassed a 28-37-1 record with the Cardinals, only reaching the postseason once in 2021 when Arizona finished second in the NFC West with an 11-6 record. However, they would eventually lose in the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl Champions, the Los Angeles Rams. During the 2021 season, the Cardinals were a Top-10 team in both scoring and total offense.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Raiders also interviewed coach Chip Kelly “at least twice” before going with Kingsbury.
