The Las Vegas Raiders are welcoming a member of Raider Nation home this week, signing cornerback Marcus Peters to a one-year deal.

Reports surfaced Monday afternoon that the veteran CB has agreed to join the Silver & Black for the 2023 season. Peters has long been linked with the Raiders, visiting the team facility back in May of this year. Exploring his options all summer, Peters joins Las Vegas right before the start of training camp. No further details have been released at this time.

Multiple journalists confirmed the news, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport the first to break it Monday.

Marcus Peters, 30, reportedly had an impressive workout for the team Monday, paving the way for a short-term contract to be done. A former All-Pro, the Oakland native has amassed 346 combined tackles, 32 interceptions (six pick-sixes), 92 pass defenses and 11 forced fumbles. The veteran has played for three different teams prior to the Raiders, beginning his career in 2015.

Peters, an Oakland native, is a lifelong fan of the Raiders, rooting for them since his youth days.

ā€œIā€™m a Raiders fan at heart,ā€ he once told reporters.

While his play has dipped exponentially, the addition by Las Vegas gives them another solid option in the secondary. Additionally, it brings a feel-good moment to the club, adding a longtime admirer to his hometown franchise.

Expect the veteran CB to have to earn his way into the rotation at training camp. But given the state of the Raiders’ secondary, Peters should be starting by Week 1.
