Chris Biderman, of the Sacramento Bee and the Candlestick Chronicles podcast, joined the midday show to break down the San Francisco 49ers’ win over the Los Angeles Rams at ‘Levi’s South.’
Watkins, Zakariah, and Chris discussed the defensive adjustments that were seen in the second half and what that says about new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. More specifically, being able to make those successful changes against Sean McVay and a Rams’ offense that may be better than most people initially assumed.
Quarterback Brock Purdy’s performance was somewhat polarizing, but Chris shared why he thinks that the San Francisco 49ers offense was a clear strong suit. Scoring 30 points is more than enough to win on most weekends, and there’s reason to believe they could put up even more than that.
Other topics discussed include:
- Isaiah Oliver’s breakout performance amidst Ambry Thomas’s injury
- Finding effectiveness in the running game from all aspects
- Biderman: “I think [Kyle Shanahan] trusts Brock Purdy more than any other quarterback he’s had”
- Who is the bigger threat to the San Francisco 49ers: Dallas Cowboys or the Philadelphia Eagles?
- Not being ‘scared’ of Jalen Hurts relative to the rest of the league
- The right side of the offensive line is the biggest weakness currently
- Will the 49ers use their cap space to improve the roster during the season?
