This NBA season will feature the first In-Season Tournament in league history, and the association is implementing new court designs specifically for those matchups, as announced Monday morning. Each design was created in unison with the team’s city edition jerseys and significantly varied from traditional hardwood.
For the Sacramento Kings, who are in their 100th year as an organization, that meant leaning further into their throwback color scheme. Their court is gray, with dark blue running through their new, alternate logo. It pays homage to the organization’s original name, the Royals, and will be seen on the Golden 1 Center floor shortly.
In eleven days, the Kings will play their first In-Season Tournament game at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Friday, November 10th, marks the debut of their new, predominately gray court. The leaguewide color designs are atypical for NBA teams, with color filling the floor, including an accent parallel to each in-the-key paint.

Also, the NBA Cup, the trophy of the In-Season Tournament, is featured in the designs multiple times — once behind the center court logo and another colored near each basket. Creatively, they extend to fit ideally below each free-throw line. It’s a different look for the Kings, but one that matches their alternate jerseys, yet to be worn in-game.
Sacramento is grouped with the Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Golden State Warriors for the competition. If they can emerge as the leaders or make their way in through the wild card, they will earn the chance to compete in Las Vegas for the inaugural NBA Cup in early December. These new, bold court designs will leave no confusion about which games are and are not part of tournament play.
