The Sacramento Kings lost against Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center during Thursday’s game.

The Kings came short 119-96 against their opponent.

According to the Sacramento Bee, when asked what the Kings need to do better, guard Buddy Hield stated the obvious by saying:

“Guard […] That’s how you stop people, you guard them and makes it tough on them. And no matter if you make or miss shots the game will come to you and you’ll find a way to grind it out.”

Kings coach Dave Joerger reflected on the game by saying the Kings did not use much force and did everything Minnesota wanted them to do.

When Hield reflects on guarding, he is potentially referring to the lack of size the team has.

Size and guarding is the reason the Kings’ defense has been harmed during games.

The King’s best perimeter defenders are George Hill (6-foot-3) and Garrett Temple (6-foot-6) but they often start games being smaller than their components.

Which was the case against Minnesota when the team took advantage of their player’s Andrew Wiggins (6-foot-8) and Jimmy Butler (6-foot-8) height.

The Kings played most of Thursday’s game without guard De’Aaron Fox after he left during the first quarter with a left quadriceps contusion.

Kings gave up 18 points off 14 turnovers and shot just 41.4 percent.
