The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” on Tuesday to break down the results of the Anonymous NBA player poll for 2024.

Launched in 2019, the poll gives readers a pulse of the league from the men hitting the court night in and night out. From March 5 – April 11, The Athletic interviewed 142 players to get their thoughts on everything from the most overrated and MVP to grading the commissioner and referees.

“That is the fun part, you are getting to read the minds of a lot of players and they share these truths that otherwise we would never know about,” Sam told Dave and Jason. “It’s the nuance of the questions, like best defender is just who do you think is obviously the most intimidating, impactful defensive player? And it was wild to see that it was like, damn, Victor [Wembanyama] already got the support around the league like that?”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • The unexpected highlight of the player poll
  • Rudy Gobert being voted as the most overrated player
  • At least one or two players thought the Sacramento Kings could be NBA champions this season
  • Malik Monk’s free agency
  • What is Klay Thompson’s market value?
  • Which Kings players showed up on the list
