Sean Cunningham, longtime Sacramento Kings reporter currently working for FOX40, joined Stiles & Watkins Tuesday afternoon to discuss their blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, provide injury updates (particularly regarding Trey Lyles), potential trades as the season continues, and more.
The trio began by asking Cunningham if he had any standout takeaways from the 129-93 loss or if the team should elect to burn the tape and move forward. While acknowledging some of the scheduling complications (second night of a back-to-back amidst a six-game road trip), their lack of physicality and typical pace caught his attention.
Being without Trey Lyles (calf), Alex Len (ankle), Keon Ellis (ankle), and Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) played a factor, more so considering Keegan Murray (lower back) and Chris Duarte (hand) became unavailable during the action.
When asked if he had any update regarding their status, Cunningham pointed out a recent Instagram post from Trey Lyles that could hint at his return and shared that Lyles participated in a five-on-five workout Tuesday morning.
So @KyleDraperTV reports Trey Lyles is playing 5 on 5 in pregame drills at the Smoothie King Center right now.

“I think he’s hoping to make his debut on this trip. He was able to go through a five-on-five workout last night before the game,” he said. “So, I think that’s trending well. There’s a possibility of seeing him in the next game of two… if he’s putting that out today, I would imagine he’s making his debut tomorrow.”
With a slew of injuries piling up, getting Trey Lyles back in the lineup could be crucial for the Sacramento Kings in the near future.
