The Kings reporter so nice we had to have him on twice…in the same week.
Sean Cunningham, sports reporter and producer for FOX40, joined the Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross Thursday to talk about NBA Summer League coming to a close, the latest on Kings center Domantas Sabonis’ health and more.
Earlier this week, Lithuanian national team head coach Kazys Maksvytis reportedly told the media that Domantas Sabonis had surgery, that’s why he isn’t joining the Lithuanian national basketball team for next month’s FIBA World Cup. However, that claim was later debunked by Cunningham and other media in Sacramento.
Speaking with Jason and JayMarZZ, Cunningham broke down what he’s learned about where currently stands and if surgery is still on the table.
“I wouldn’t say it was surprising if it had been true. The comments that were made by his Lithuanian national coach because many people were almost expecting it to possibly happen before the start of the season, if this rehabilitation didn’t take. That was the plan Domantas Sabonis had spoken to us about,” Cunningham said, adding even if surgery were on the table, it wouldn’t impact the start of the season. “That’s the good news for Kings fans, that he will be expected to be ready for camp and wouldn’t have any deadlines.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- What he saw from Harry Giles’ Las Vegas workout. Sean spoke to Harry and that interview can be found at FOX40.com.
- Between Giles, Ben McLemore and Isaiah Thomas, who has the best chance of returning to the NBA
- Has anyone from NBA summer league stood out enough to get a two-way contract from the Sacramento Kings?
- What happens next with Neemias Queta?
