Party like it’s 2010.

On Easter Sunday, the San Francisco Giants completed a three-game sweep of the Cleveland Guardians to claim its fifth-straight win and establish their best nine-game start to a season (7-2) since 2010.

Everything was working for the Giants over the weekend, as the team’s pitching staff held the Guardians to just four runs over three games (1.33 ERA) while the offense mashed five home runs and drove in 16 runs.

Thairo Estrada went two-for-four with a two-run double and two-run home run during Sunday’s 8-1 win as the 26-year-old acted as the driving to secure the sweep.

Brandon Belt also reached the seats during the seventh inning when he drove his third long-ball of the season into the right-field seats. Joc Pederson upped his batting average to .364 on the season as the Palo Alto native picked up two hits during the win.

Alex Wood looked strong during his second start of the season as the lefty hurled five shutout innings while striking out five Guardians batters.

Through nine games, the Giants’ pitching leads all of baseball in ERA (2.20) and second in the least runs allowed (20).

According to the Giants’ media staff, San Francisco starters have now allowed 2 runs or fewer in 9 straight games to begin the year–the longest streak to open a year by Giants starters since 1901.

Since 1901, the only other MLB team to have a streak that long to begin a season is the 1966 Chicago White Sox (11 games).

San Francisco will look to continue their winning streak on Monday afternoon when they begin a four-game series against an up-and-coming New York Mets team that has also enjoyed a strong start to the season.
