A familiar face has returned to the Sacramento Kings organization. Vlade Divac has been seen courtside, often alongside Kings’ owner Vivek Ranadive, for a handful of games this season, including their most recent back-to-back against the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
According to The Athletic‘s Sam Amick, Divac was formally added as a “Kings ambassador” in early November.
Vlade Divac played for the Sacramento Kings for six seasons from 1998-2004, where he was a beloved player by the fanbase and an impactful connective center for impressive teams. Ten years removed from the roster, the Hall of Famer became a head front office executive for the Kings over five seasons with unideal results.

Current general manager Monte McNair replaced Divac in 2020 and helped construct a roster to end their infamous 16-year postseason drought. Now, per Amick, his role will not include basketball-related decision-making.
The role, which is rooted entirely in the business side of the organization and includes no basketball operations influence, is focused on community, fan and business outreach. Divac, who began working in this role informally last season, recently traveled to China with longtime president of business operations John Rinehart as part of an effort to grow the Kings’ brand globally.

Vlade Divac is still widely respected by the fanbase in Sacramento, and he’s maintained a solid relationship with Ranadive and other organization members.
Don’t be surprised to see the 7’1 legend around Golden 1 Center more often, given his new title.
When is the next Sacramento Kings Game?
Sacramento will take two days off before facing two-time MVP center Nikola Jokic and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets at Golden 1 Center on Saturday night.
The Nuggets will be playing the second game of a back-to-back after facing the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
