The NBA’s last two-minute report shows a missed call on Zion Williamson in Wednesday’s 117-112 Kings’ loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
With under 30 seconds left to play, and Sacramento trailing by three points, the Pelicans inbounded the ball to Brandon Ingram at the top of the key. With a screen from Williamson, Ingram was able to drive to the basket, giving New Orleans a 115-110 lead. However, the basket should have been negated because of a missed illegal screen call.
“Williamson (NOP) extends his left leg forward into Barnes’ (SAC) path and delivers contact with his side during the pick,” the two-minute report reads.
Had the foul been called on Zion Williamson, the Kings would have gotten the ball back.
On the same drive, Domantas Sabonis was hit in the head by Ingram’s elbow. The Kings’ center left the game as the hit drew blood. The no-call on the court was correct.
“As Ingram (NOP) removes his left hand from the ball, marginal contact occurs with Sabonis’ (SAC) head/neck area. Contact to an opponent’s head/face can be deemed marginal when the result of a natural basketball move, provided the contact is not disproportionate or uncontrolled,” the report reads.
