Republic FC’s Sam Werner Named to USL Team of the Week

It's been a great week, and month, for Sacramento Republic FC midfielder Sam Werner.

Sacramento Republic FC midfielder Sam Werner has gotten league-wide recognition for his stellar form as of late, being named to the USL Championship Team of the Week.

In his first season with the club, Werner has stepped up in a major way in both USL regular season and US Open Cup matches.

Saturday against San Antonio FC, Werner was credited with two goals, including a world-class top corner finish, propelling the Republic to a 2-1 victory.

Werner was also named the Republic’s Player of the Month for his outstanding May.

Sacramento is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Western Conference leader New Mexico United.
