Sacramento Republic FC Phillips, Vitiello named to USL Championship Team of the Week

Another week, another accolade for Sacramento Republic FC.

The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Republic FC players Kieran Phillips and Danny Vitiello were named to the competition’s Week 14 Team of the Week. The latter made the first team, while the former made it to the bench for their respective play in last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Monterey Bay F.C.

This is Vitiello’s first Team of the Week selection of the year, while it is Phillips’ second.

The Quails goalkeeper recorded four saves in the victory, making it a league-leading six clean sheets on the 2024 season. That included a penalty save in the 78th minute, denying Monterey Bay’s Tristan Traeger to keep the shoutout intact. It was Vitiello’s sixth PK save of his career, and his first since 2022.

Kieran Phillips earned the honors after notching his fifth goal in seven games for The Indomitable Club. The Englishman broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, slotting it past the Monterey keeper to give Sacramento the lead on the road.

Sacramento Republic FC currently sit second in the USL Western Conference at 24 points total. They hold a record of 6-6-1 this campaign.

The Quails will next face off with its second regional rival in as many weeks, when Oakland Roots SC makes its way to Heart Health Park. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. and tickets to the match are available now at SacRepublicFC.com/tickets. The match will also be broadcast live in English and Spanish on FOX40 and Antenna TV 40.2, as well as streaming on FOX40.com, through the FOX40 News mobile app, and on ESPN+.
