Republic FC’s Ukaegbu to Join U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team Training Camp

U.S. Soccer announced that Sacramento Republic FC defender Chibi Ukaegbu has been selected to the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team roster for its upcoming international training camp in San Pedro Del Pinatar, Spain from October 6-15, 2025. Ukaegbu is one of three players representing USL Championship on the roster.

The 18-year-old homegrown defender has made 15 appearances across all competitions in 2025. On Wednesday, he helped Sacramento Republic FC punch its ticket to the 2025 playoffs in a 2-1 win over Orange County SC. Ukaegbu earned the start and delivered a standout performance with a 93% pass completion rate, two interceptions, four possessions won, and a game-high five clearances.

Ukaegbu is heading back to camp to join the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team for its upcoming training camp in Spain.

This will be Chibi’s third selection to a U-20 national team roster this year. He previously joined the squad in January for a camp that included friendlies against the U.S Men’s National Team and Nashville SC, and again in September for a training camp in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also earned three youth national team call-ups in 2024 – twice with the U-19 team and once with the U-17 side.

Including Ukaegbu, all three of Sacramento Republic FC’s homegrown players have earned national team recognition this year. In May, Blake Willey made four appearances for the U-18 U.S Men’s National Team and provided an assist to help bring home silverware in the UEFA Friendship Cup, lifting the trophy over top soccer nations including France, Argentina, and Portugal.

Fifteen-year-old Da’vian Kimbrough claimed the golden boot with Mexico’s U-15 squad en-route to the Concacaf Championship title. Da’vian Kimbrough scored in each of his six games, finishing as top scorer in the competition to lead the tournament’s championship team.
