49ers Arik Armstead expected to miss practice Wednesday with foot issue

The San Francisco 49ers will start their Week 13 prep without Arik Armstead, one of their defensive staples.
The 49ers’ defensive lineman is not expected to practice with the team Wednesday, per coach Kyle Shanahan. Armstead is dealing with a foot issue, with the cause of injury undetermined at this time. This is the Sacramento native’s first time on the report in weeks, staying relatively healthy this season.
Last season, however, was a different story for the long-time 49er, playing only nine contests due to lower-bodies injuries. He has already surpassed that total a year later, featuring in all 11 games for the Red & Gold in 2023. He dealt with plantar fasciitis last season, laboring through the injury throughout the season.
Shanahan and the 49ers are unsure if it is the same injury at this time.
Arik Armstead, 30, has been a pillar of consistency for San Francisco this season. Through 11 games played, he has logged 476 snaps on defense. The Sacramento native has 26 combined tackles, 13 quarterback hits and five sacks in 2023. He has turned it on the last month, however, with 4.5 sacks and 20 pressures since the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.
