The San Francisco 49ers had one surprise under the tree this year, with Javon Hargrave making his return on Christmas.
The 49ers defensive tackle has been listed as active for Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, returning to the lineup after a one-gam absence. Hargrave was questionable coming into Monday night due to a hamstring injury suffered Week 14. Logging his first practice since Friday, the South Carolina native did enough to suit up Monday night.
“Yeah, he did good. He was able to get that out there today. Got the most work in there today, but it’s all walk-through. So he’s still questionable,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday.

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer also reported that Hargrave would be active for Christmas night, making it ever more likely The Faithful would see him in action.
“I guess we’ll see,” Javon Hargrave said Saturday. “All these right now are big games for us…I just ain’t used to missing games. So, I want to be able to play in all of them.”
Hargrave, 30, has had a productive first season with the Red & Gold. He has recorded 40 combined tackles, 13 quarterback hits and six sacks in 13 games this season. The South Carolina State alum also has a 77.9 Pro Football Focus grade for 2023.
49ers Fan Favorite making Season Debut
The 49ers also elevated two NFL veterans Monday, including cornerback Jason Verrett.
Verrett, 32, re-signed with the 49ers’ practice squad after Week 14. He has been recovering from a torn achilles suffered last November. Before that, the Fairfield native torn his ACL Week 1 of the 2021 season. He has only featured in 20 games since the 2016 season, dealing with perpetual injuries throughout his NFL career.
Now fully healthy, “JV” could make his season debut Monday night against the Ravens.
Joining him on game-day elevations is wide receiver Willie Snead IV. The former Raven has played in only three contests this season, recording his first catch last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
