The biggest name of the 49ers selections is Brock Purdy, leading the NFL in fan voting for the year (451,864). Purdy makes his first Pro Bowl game in his career, coming off an MVP-candidate season. He has 4,280 passing yards (49ers franchise record), 31 total touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Also on the list of top vote getters is Christian McCaffrey, making his third Pro Bowl.
The versatile offensive weapon had a historical 2023, finishing with 2000-plus scrimmage yards for the first time since 2019. CMC has been a revelation since joining the 49ers, with more than 3,200 total yards and 31 TDs in 27 games in Red & Gold.
Additionally, Trent Williams makes history, becoming only the fourth OT to be named to 11 Pro Bowls. That list includes hall-of-famers Anthony Munoz, Jonathan Ogden and Willie Roaf.
Kyle Juszczyk also makes history, booming the first FB to make eight Pro Bowl selections.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan spoke on the success of his star players Wednesday, elated to have so many members come through the ranks of development:
I just think it’s been real cool that most of our Pro Bowlers I feel like have come from here. We brought in Christian. We brought in Trent. But, it was just cool watching some of these guys who we go back and watch playoff games from 2019 and stuff and you just see rookies out there. Rookies with Greenlaw and Deebo and second-year player like with Fred, first year player with Bosa. You just think of some of those guys who came here and now they’re kind of household names and they do it year-in and year-out. It’s cool. It’s awesome when you bring in someone like Christian, someone like Trent, just different type of players that we got a chance to add to this group. You think of some of the stuff we had to go through to build this up and it’s just really cool. We hit on some guys that weren’t only just talented guys but really made of the right stuff, which has allowed them to turn themselves into that and continue to get better each year after.
While the 49ers would have loved to see more members make the list, the team has bigger aspirations in mind.
