Never seriously in doubt, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will play Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

Coming into the game questionable, the San Francisco gunslinger is officially active for Week 15. Purdy has been dealing with an oblique/rib injury sustained on the second drive 0f last Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Scrambling for a first down, the rookie dove for a first down before being tackled out-of-bounds. The play was negated due to a holding penalty on San Francisco.

Despite practicing in a very limited fashion all week, Purdy showed no inclination that he would be missing a vital Week 15 clash against the team’s biggest rivals.

“I feel good. Just taking it one day at a time, getting as much treatment as I can, but overall, I feel pretty good,” the QB said Tuesday. “Just sore. When I got into the treatment room, they just did some tests and stuff on me and whatnot. Yeah, it wasn’t like excruciating pain or anything like that. It’s just where I was at, just sore after a game.”

After an MRI Monday confirmed the minor injuries, the team felt that it was up to Brock Purdy on whether he could solider through the pain on the field. Showing enough throughout the week, the Iowa State standout will start in a pivotal NFC West showdown.

“No, it’s just can he play with it? If he plays, he won’t be able to make it worse,” head coach Kyle Shanahan added.

The Red & Gold could clinch their first divisional title since 2019 tonight, leaving the Seahawks three games back in the standings. The last time the 49ers won the NFC West: 2019 in a Week 17 matchup against the Seahawks, ending 26-21 in favor of San Francisco.

Prior to Thursday’s contest, the 49ers promoted defensive lineman Akeem Spencer to the active roster from the practice squad. To make room, DL Hassan Ridgeway (pec) has been placed on injured reserve.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins and wide receiver Willie Snead IV have also been activated from the practice squad (standard elevations).

49ers Inactives:

QB Jimmy Garoppolo (foot)

DB Tarvarius Moore (knee)

CB Samuel Womack III (concussion)

DL Kevin Givens (knee)

OL Nick Zakelj

WR Deebo Samuel (knee, ankle)

LB Curtis Robinson
