The 49ers have been known to make out of the box moves, doing so with a bit of creative to select Renardo Green.
The San Francisco 49ers selected the Florida State cornerback with the 64th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft Friday night. SF makes the pick after trading back from 63rd overall with the Kansas City Chiefs. To do so, SF exchanged a sixth-rounder (211th) for a fifth-rounder (173rd) this year to move back one spot.
After watching a run on offensive linemen go before their pick, the 49ers choose to add an impact member of the secondary in Green.

Renardo Green, 23, played five seasons at Florida State, spending time at outside cornerback, safety and nickel. He racked up 148 tackles, 22 pass break-ups, one interception and one forced fumble in 41 games played. He is well-versed in press coverage as well, spending 322 snaps over the last two seasons there (third most in the FBS). The Florida native finished with a 86.4 courage grade from Pro Football Focus, third amongst ACC CBs.
He posted a 4.49 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, with a 1.53 10-yard split. Green is known for his instincts and intangibles, playing like a dawg in the secondary.
“[The 49ers] fit me. They play like some savages. They play like some dawgs,” Renardo Green told the media shortly after being picked Friday.
