The time has come 49ers faithful, it’s cutdown day!

All 32 NFL teams are faced with the daunting task of cutting down their rosters to 53 individuals by the 1 p.m. Pacific deadline, making for some tough decisions league wide.

San Francisco is no different, having talent and depth in almost all areas of the field, leaving head coach Kyle Shanahan and the front office with some hard choices over the next few hours.

The team already started the process of elimination over the past 48 hours, cutting CB Ka’Dar Hollman, C Dohnovan West and CB Ken Crawley before Tuesday even began.

Here is the list of players that didn’t make the 49ers 53-man roster:

Released:

CB Ken Crawley: A player brought in for depth during camp but the team is too deep at the position to keep him. (Announced by 49ers on Monday)

TE Troy Fumagalli: Too much depth at the position as Fumagalli was only used in special teams work throughout camp. (Announced by 49ers)

S Tashaun Gipson Sr.: A surprise to me but not to most. Gipson was brought in for preseason depth but maybe the 49ers could have used him with Ward’s injury. (First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter)

CB Dontae Johnson: Don’t get caught up in this one, only a mandatory move before placing Jimmie Ward on short-term IR. The long-time 49er will most likely re-sign with the team tomorrow. (First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter)

WR Marcus Johnson: Too much depth at the position for San Francisco. (First reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero)

TE Tyler Kroft: Just a formality as a roster spot will open up after Jimmie Ward and Curtis Robinson go on IR tomorrow. Kroft will re-sign with the team. (Announced by 49ers, later reported by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows )

OT Jordan Mills: Brought in midway through camp for depth, pass protection was abysmal against Houston. (First reported by Aaron Wilson)

WR Willie Snead IV: Joined training camp as depth and competition midway through, had a bad drop at the conclusion of the preseason loss to Houston. (First reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero)

DL Akeem Spence: Too much depth at the position to keep the veteran on the roster. (Announced by 49ers)

QB Nate Sudfeld: A move that materialized after Jimmy Garoppolo’s new deal. Brock Purdy won the job over him but the team was still happy with the veteran’s production. (First reported by 49ers GM John Lynch)

DE Kemoko Turay: Biggest surprise on this list. Produced 5.5 sacks for the Indianapolis Colts last season and seemed like a solid rotation piece for the Red & Gold. (First reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler)

WR Malik Turner: The 49ers are only keeping five wideouts on the roster, still could be a practice squad candidate. (First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter)

DL Jordan Willis: Just a formality as a roster spot will open up after Jimmie Ward and Curtis Robinson go on IR tomorrow. Willis will re-sign with the team. (Announced by 49ers, later reported by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows)

Waived:

DL Kevin Atkins: Too much depth at the position to keep him on the roster. A possible practice squad candidate. (Announced by 49ers)

DL Alex Barrett: Too much depth at the position to keep the veteran on the roster. (Announced by 49ers)

CB Tariq Castro-Fields: The sixth-round pick would have a chance on most rosters but the 49ers have a deep unit this year. Still could make the practice squad. (First reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler)

OT Alfredo Gutierrez: Received a game ball for his NFL debut in Minnesota and has a practice-squad spot waiting for him a second straight year. (First reported by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco)

RB JaMycal Hasty: He evolved last season into the 49ers’ third-down back, his speed also was valuable on special teams. (First reported by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows)

S Tayler Hawkins: Flashed a bit in preseason but not enough to warrant a roster spot. Possible practice squad candidate. (Announced by 49ers)

CB Ka’dar Hollman: The first player cut by the 49ers this year. (Announced by 49ers on Sunday)

CB Qwuantrezz Knight: Impressed the coaching staff with his versatility and quickness, will most likely end up on the practice squad. (First reported by SF Chronicle’s Eric Branch)

WR Tay Martin: An undrafted rookie that didn’t get many targets throughout camp, could make the practice squad. (First reported by Pro Football Network)

LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball: An extra QB means another player has to go and the 49ers love what McCrary-Ball brings to the table. He should end up on the practice squad. (Announced by 49ers)

LB Segun Olubi: The speedy linebacker has all the tools to be a part of the team in the future, posting a 4.4 40-time at the combine this year. Still very raw and should find his way to the practice squad. (First reported by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows)

OL Jason Poe: Undrafted rookie saw first-team reps last week but struggled against the Houston Texans. A practice squad candidate. (First reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler)

OL Justin Skule: Not a surprise, Skule was getting torn apart in the preseason games. (First reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler)

OL Keaton Sutherland: Not great in preseason or practice settings for San Francisco. A possible practice squad candidate. (Announced by 49ers)

C Dohnovan West: Didn’t flash much in the preseason as the coaching staff seems comfortable with Jake Brendel and Daniel Brunskill in reserve to replace the former pro bowler Alex Mack. (Announced by 49ers on Monday)
