The Las Vegas Raiders may have lost their season opener, but there were positives to take away from the game.

Offensive Coordinator Mick Lombardi spoke to the media Tuesday, saying one of the positives coming out of Sunday was the effort of the team.

” You can create some positives, and I think the positive was that we have guys who love playing football and will play hard for us,” Lombardi said.

Another positive was Davante Adams. In his first game as a Raider, he totaled 141 receiving yards in Week 1, which was nearly half of the Raiders’ 320 total yards for the game. And according to the Raiders, that was “the fourth most by a Raider in a season opener in franchise history and the most since 2018.” He also set a personal best, too, as that was his “32nd game of 100+ yards receiving since 2014, the fourth most of such games in the NFL over that span.”

Lombardi was asked if Adams can perform better the more Hunter Renfrow or Darren Waller are involved in the game.

“Davante is a special player and he obviously had a certain number of targets, and that’s just how the game started off in terms of the coverage. And then as the game kind of went on, you saw Darren got a couple more targets and then Hunter got some more targets later in the game, and even saw Mack Hollins get a target early in the game,” Lombardi said. “I thought Derek [Carr] did a pretty good job of going where the covers took him. I think that at the end of the day is like you’re saying, what can other guys do and what can Davante do. I think just executing their job based on the coverage and Derek doing a good job of reading out the coverage the right way, then I think just everything takes care of itself.”
