Either the Las Vegas Raiders or Tennessee Titans will walk away from Sunday’s game 0-3. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels is doing everything he can to make sure that’s not his team.

In Week 2, the Raiders lost in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals 29-23. On Monday night, the Titans lost in a blowout to the Buffalo Bills 41-7. Both teams were in the playoffs last year and had high hopes for the 2022 season.

On Friday, coach Josh McDaniels spoke to the media about how the Las Vegas Raiders are preparing to take on Derrick Henry and the Titans. This assignment isn’t as easy as just stuffing the box.

“There are different ways that they can attack you. They can put different personnel groupings out there, they can get small with a bunch of receivers, they can get big with a bunch of tight ends. So, it really won’t make any difference,” McDaniels said. “We’re going to have to play good run defense from whatever shell we’re going to play it from. And you’ve got to mix it up a little bit, hopefully. They’ve run it well, and nobody sees more loaded boxes than they do. Nobody.”

According to the site statmuse, the Titans led the league in time of possession in 2021. McDaniels knows Tennessee can hold onto the ball for long stretches, so he knows his team will have to execute well against them.

“If we want to have an equal time of possession or perhaps gain an advantage there and make sure that we’re balanced with who’s on the field, we’re going to have to do a good job of executing offensively,” McDaniels said. “And it’s not going to be easy, run or pass, and they force you to drive the ball. Our execution is going to be at a premium, no doubt about it, if we want to have time possession.”
