Only a few months ago the 2022 World Series was wrapping up with the Houston Astros defeating the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2, to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy. Fast forward a bit, and it’s officially the start of Spring Training 2023.

All 32 teams have reported to their designated locations in Arizona or Florida for some preseason baseball. The San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics are two teams spending the next month in Scottsdale for the Cactus League. And after a disappointing 2022 season, both teams will be eager to get off on the right foot this weekend.

Here’s how you can catch the action if you’re not heading to Arizona this spring.

When does Spring Training start & end?

Spring Training officially opens Friday, Feb. 24th, with clashes between the Texas Rangers & Kansas City Royals, and the Seattle Mariners & San Diego Padres. Spring Training ends March 27th, with both the Giants and A’s games that day.

When do the Giants & A’s play?

Both Bay Area squads kick off Spring Training Saturday, Feb. 25th in the Cactus League. San Francisco will play the Chicago Cubs at 12:05 p.m. MST, naming Tristan Beck as the team’s starting pitcher for the opener.

Meanwhile, Oakland will play the hometown Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday at 12:05 p.m. MST. They have yet to name the starting pitcher.

How do I watch the Giants & A’s Spring Training games?

You can catch the Giants’ opening clash with the Cubs only on the radio at KNBR 680. While the A’s will have their first game’s broadcast available on the NBC Sports App, and radio versions on A’s Cast and Bloomberg 960 AM.

More information regarding the full schedules can be found on the Giant’s & A’s websites. If you want to catch a game in person, tickets can be found there as well.
