On the heels of a three-game losing streak that capped off a series defeat to their National League West foe Arizona Diamondbacks, the San Francisco Giants quickly bounced back upon returning to Oracle Park.

San Francisco enjoyed a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies that concluded with a 7-4 win on Wednesday afternoon, one that was capped off by closer Camilo Doval’s third-straight save.

The 25-year-old closed out every game against Philadelphia, striking out five batters over 3.1 innings pitched.

“I think everybody around the league does three-in-a-rows a little bit different,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said of Doval’s three-straight saves following Wednesday’s win.

“One way we think about it is we talk to the players, find out if they’re feeling strong and healthy and like they can go. Camilo wanted this opportunity today. We planned that out pregame. We weren’t even prepared to use him in a tie-game situation. But with the save, it was clear. He’s earned that right, and we trust him.”

Doval has had an incredible May thus far, allowing just one run while striking out 13 batters over 8.2 innings.

While the Giants benefited from Doval’s closing efforts, their offense also stepped up on Wednesday.

Rookie infielder Casey Schmitt’s hot start to his MLB career continued as the 24-year-old drove in two more runs during the win. Thairo Estrada’s go-ahead single in the eighth inning set the table for Wilmer Flores, who drove in two insurance runs moments later to give San Francisco a three-run lead.

San Francisco continues to prove that they can bounce back from losing skids, as they are now just 2.5 games back of a National League Wild Card spot.

The Giants will hope to continue their winning ways against a Miami Marlins team that has also hit a stride over the past week, winning four-straight games and seven of their past ten contests.
