When the Texas Rangers arrive at Oracle Park on Friday Night, they will bring some history with them.

The San Francisco Giants started its 2010s World Series reign by claiming the 2010 fall classic in five games against the Rangers, led by then-manager Bruce Bochy.

Bochy, who is now at the helm of a Rangers team that has jumped out to an American League West-leading 68-47 record, will be making his first return to Oracle Park as an opposing manager since departing from San Francisco at the end of the 2019 season.

This isn’t your average Rangers team, as Texas is speeding toward its first MLB Playoff berth since 2016, where they will seek its first postseason win since 2015.

San Francisco (62-53) has hit another rough patch, losing four of their past five games against the lowly Oakland Athletics and the struggling Los Angeles Angels. Leading into this current stretch, the Giants had won seven of nine before falling back into the loss column.

Who’s Hot?

  • Wilmer Flores has reached base in 20 straight games. The infielder is batting .389 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, and a .444 on-base percentage since July 16th.
  • Heliot Ramos, who was just called up in place of the injured AJ Pollock (oblique), was hitting .321 over his past 16 games with AAA Sacramento before being called up on August 9th.
  • Rocklin native Logan Webb has been lights out over his past two starts: 1-0, 2.13 ERA, 11 K, 1 BB. Webb will take the ball for Sunday’s series finale.
  • LaMonte Wade Jr. is batting .333 over the past eight games.

Who’s Not?

  • The entire San Francisco Giants offense is hitting .184 with 57 strikeouts, and just three home runs over the past six games.
  • Elk Grove’s J.D. Davis has hit a rough stretch that has seen the infielder hit .175 over his past 16 appearances.
  • Michael Conforto is hitting .136 over his past seven games.
