Jeff Young, who covers the San Francisco Giants for Around the Foghorn, joined Stiles & Watkins Monday afternoon to discuss the impact of Shohei Ohtani joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Young shared that he was unsurprised to see Ohtani sign with the Dodgers for various reasons. “I think it was always going to the Dodgers, although the Blue Jays would have been a nice fit,” he said. “I know they were in the mix as well.”

The two discussed the rumors that had circled regarding Shohei Ohtani considering coming to the Bay Area, questioning how far along into the process they could have gotten.

With Shohei Ohtani now out of the picture, the question becomes, where do the Giants go from here? Young and Stiles dive into that topic during their conversation. Should they focus on improving the bullpen or the rest of the roster?

Should San Francisco consider pursuing Cody Bellinger? Or maybe Matt Champman? After debating those names, a few more were mentioned as well.

Listen to Stiles & Watkins from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday, on Sactown Sports 1140.
