Brandon Crawford got an unofficial sendoff from San Francisco Giants fans at the end of last season.

At the time, it was unclear if he would return to the organization where he spent all 13 seasons of his major league career, test free agency or maybe even retire.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, a reunion between the Giants and Crawford is apparently “out of the question.”

Free-agent shortstop Brandon Crawford, 37, is willing to move to second or third base, but also could retire if the right opportunity does not arise, according to sources familiar with his thinking.

Teams are showing interest in Crawford, but a return to the Giants – his only team during a 13-year career that has included two World Series titles, three All-Star appearances and four Gold Gloves – appears out of the question.

The 37-year-old shortstop and Bay Area played 1,617 games with the Giants. And while he ended this past season with a career-low .194 batting average, he’ll go down as one of the best in Giants’ history. Brandon Crawford, a career .250 hitter, has done a lot for San Francisco. He’s helped the team win two World Series, represented the Giants in the All-Star Game three times, has four Gold Gloves, and is a two-time Wilson Defensive Player of the Year award winner.
