Athletics Injury Updates: Wilson, Muncy & more

The following release & injury updates are courtesy of the Athletics

The Athletics placed shortstop Jacob Wilson on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 26 with a fractured right forearm and recalled infielder Darell Hernaiz from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Wilson, who was the starting shortstop for the American League in the All-Star Game, was batting .312 with 10 home runs and 45 RBI in 94 games. He ranks fourth in the majors in batting and tied for 10th in hits (115), and leads rookies in batting, on-base percentage (.354), OPS (.793), and hits.

Hernaiz has spent the entire season at Triple-A Las Vegas and will be making his 2025 debut.  He batted .305 with four home runs, 50 RBI, 12 stolen bases and an .807 OPS in 96 games with the Aviators.

The 23-year-old right-handed hitter ranks second in the Pacific Coast League in hits (118) and doubles (28), tied for fifth in runs (67) and ninth in batting. Hernaiz started 85 games at shortstop, six at second base and three at third base.

OF Denzel Clarke (10-day IL): Right adductor strain

  • Has started a running and hitting progression

RHP Gunnar Hoglund (60-day IL): Right hip impingement surgery

RHP Grant Holman (60-day IL): Right shoulder rotator cuff tendinitis; right finger strain

  • Shoulder throwing progression was stopped due to finger injury (A4 pulley)

  • No throwing for a minimum of three weeks

RHP Jose Leclerc (60-day IL): Right lat strain

  • Awaiting surgery with Dr. Keith Meister, date TBD

  • Out for the season

RHP Luis Medina (60-day IL): Recovery from Tommy John surgery

  • Continuing throwing progression with flat grounds

  • Will be progressing towards mound work in the next few weeks

INF Max Muncy (10-day IL): Right hand fracture

  • Starting to perform baseball activities, no hitting

INF Jacob Wilson (10-day IL): Left forearm fracture

  • No baseball activities at this time
