The San Francisco Giants are still searching for a spark as they enter the second week of June, and help from the injured list can’t come soon enough.

Currently sitting eight games back of the third and final National League Wild Card spot, the San Francisco Giants are hoping several key contributors can begin making their way back in the coming weeks.

Monday’s injury report offered a mix of encouraging developments and continued setbacks.

Among the biggest names on the update was outfielder Harrison Bader, who continues to battle plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

According to the club, Bader visited noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Friday and received a stem cell injection. He’ll remain in a walking boot for another two to three days.

There was less positive news regarding reliever Jason Foley. The right-hander was pulled off his rehab assignment Friday after experiencing shoulder fatigue. Foley will be shut down for a few days, although the Giants are hopeful he’ll be able to resume throwing over the weekend.

Meanwhile, a pair of starting pitchers continues moving in the right direction.

Matt Gage, who has been dealing with right knee inflammation, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday at Oracle Park. Tyler Mahle also appears to be nearing another milestone in his recovery from a left hamstring strain, with the veteran right-hander set to face hitters on Tuesday.

The Giants are also seeing progress from Heliot Ramos, who has been sidelined with a right quad strain. Ramos will take batting practice this week and continue advancing his running program later in the week, another sign that his return may not be too far away.

Infielder Jared Oliva remains on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento as he works back from a left wrist hamate fracture.

Not every update carried optimism, however. Left-hander Joel Peguero, who is recovering from a left hamstring strain, will remain shut down from all baseball activities.

With the San Francisco Giants trying to climb back into the playoff picture, getting healthy will be crucial over the next month-plus if they want to avoid having a potential sell-off during the MLB trade deadline.
