Is it time for the Giants to consider trading Logan Webb?

The San Francisco Giants are off to a disastrous start, and a once-unthinkable question is beginning to surface: Should they consider trading Logan Webb?

That question was raised on Sactown Sports’ The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, as the Giants sit at 13-21, buried in last place in the NL West and reeling from a six-game losing streak.

With the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers already eight games ahead in early May, the conversation has quickly shifted from contention to long-term direction.

Should the Giants consider trading Logan Webb?

It’s a jarring thought considering what Logan Webb represents.

The Rocklin native is not only the staff ace but also one of the most durable and reliable pitchers in baseball. Webb, 29, has led the National League in innings pitched in three consecutive seasons, made at least 32 starts in four straight years, and owns two All-Star selections along with a Gold Glove.

He’s also under team control through 2028, making him both valuable and, theoretically, a cornerstone. But that value is exactly why the conversation exists.

“I love Logan Webb. I put Logan in that category, that very high echelon of people I love that have played for my Giants,” Dave said. “And I think they have to have these conversations. You’re wasting this.”

The argument is twofold: the Giants are underperforming now, and the roster around Webb doesn’t look close to competing with elite teams like the Dodgers or the San Diego Padres.

At the same time, Webb is in his prime and would command a massive return on the trade market.

“He would get you a haul,” Dave added. “He is a perennial Cy Young Award candidate… if somebody comes in with a godfather offer… there’s your guy.”

Still, not everyone agrees that moving Logan Webb is the right first step.

“I would rather have one of the best pitchers in baseball on my staff,” Ross said. “The second you trade Logan Webb, you’re looking for the next Logan Webb—and you had him.”

That hesitation reflects the broader dilemma facing San Francisco. Trading Webb would signal a deeper rebuild, an admission that the current core—despite high-priced additions like Rafael Devers and Willy Adames—isn’t working.

For now, the Giants may try to “tinker” around the edges instead of making a franchise-altering move. But as losses pile up and October drifts further out of reach, the pressure to make a bold decision will only grow.
