San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month for December.
Purdy won every game he played in, including three starts in December. Since being inserted into the starting lineup on Dec. 11 against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers, the rookie quarterback has not suffered a loss, finishing the season a perfect 5-0.
Over the last six weeks, Purdy completed 110 of 161 passes (68.3%) for 1,308 yards and 13 touchdowns. With all the firepower the San Francisco franchise has had over the years, Purdy is the first-ever 49er to win the honors. He’s also the first quarterback to win the honors this season.
Detroit Lions defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson was awarded Defensive Rookie of the Month.
When asked Wednesday how he’s feeling being in the conversation for rookie of the year after six games, Purdy said he’s not getting wrapped up in that stuff.
“For me, it’s I have to win for as good as the team that we have, I have to just come in, do my job and let everything else fall in place,” Purdy said. “I don’t want to get wrapped up in all that kind of stuff. It’ll happen if it happens. Whoever wins it, wins it, great, but I’m just trying to be where I’m at, be where my feet are at.”
