Could the Oakland Athletics call Sacramento home from 2025-27?

According to a report published by The Athletic’s Evan Drellich, Sacramento is the front-runner to host the A’s from 2025-27 before they move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2028.

Brodie Brazil, NBC Sports California host, joined The Drive Guys on Friday to discuss the possibility, share some upcoming deadlines that are looming regarding Oakland’s attempt to relocate, and much more.

  • Brodie says it’s “no surprise” that the A’s are looking at Sacramento as a temporary home
  • What is the next deadline that Las Vegas and MLB are looking at regarding the relocation process?
  • All eyes are on the Tropicana site as the A’s hope to build a new stadium in the location
  • “The moment they close that hotel, the moment that revenues on that land stop.”
  • Another deadline: MLB releases its schedule for 2025 internally in March-April, then to the public in July
  • Brodie says the A’s are looking at “weeks, not months” for the A’s to decide on its plan for 2025

  • What are the chances that Oakland’s relocation effort fails?
  • Brodie thinks its 50/50 that the A’s move, but that doesn’t mean that they will remain in Oakland if the Las Vegas move fails
