Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee and Candlestick Chronicles Podcast joined Stiles & Watkins ahead of the Kings’ five-game road trip, which kicks off in Detroit against the Pistons.
Over the past month, the Kings have suffered big losses to the Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, Minnesota Timberwolves and most recently, the New Orleans Pelicans.
And while the team has a better record at this point in the season than they did a year ago, there have been noticeable changes. For example, Sacramento has lost 14 games this season, and seven of their 14 losses have been by 15+ points.
“Something I’ll be keeping an eye on during this road trip is does this team need to shake things up from a roster perspective,” Biderman said. “The trade deadline is about a month away and is that going to be something they do to improve or can the improvements come internally? I know Monte McNair, particularly at last year’s deadline, made it a point to say ‘we think our biggest growth is going to come internally.’ The roster that they have can just improve as it is, and I think we’re seeing that plateau a little bit here midway through the second season of Mike Brown’s tenure and I’m wondering if that’s going to lead to some moves being made.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Why he would be stunned if the Sacramento Kings didn’t play well against the Pistons.
- It would be surprising if Steve Wilks got a head coaching position this quickly after joining the 49ers
- Adam Peters is “probably the most important personnel voice” within the 49ers organization and San Francisco would have no problem turning the reigns over to him when John Lynch eventually steps down. But until that happens, Peters would be a top general manager candidate for other organizations in the NFL
