Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee and the Candlestick Chronicles podcast joined Whitey & Draper on Tuesday to discuss the San Francisco 49ers’ upcoming matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, their offensive similarities to the scorching Miami Dolphins, how much weight to put into their undefeated start and more.
With the Cardinals coming off an upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the conversation started there. Is this a potential ‘trap game’ for the San Francisco 49ers?
“[San Francisco] want to go into that Dallas game with a full game up on them in the standings at least,” Biderman said. “So, they have to beat Arizona on Sunday.”

The Pittsburg Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants may not be as good as some people projected coming into the 2023-24 NFL season. With those being the three opponents the 49ers have defeated up to this point, how much faith should their fanbase have?
There are other talented rosters around the league, including the Miami Dolphins. Led by head coach Mike McDaniel, who was formerly an assistant coach under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco, they tallied 70 points against the Denver Broncos. Chris noticed some similarities in the 49ers and Dolphins’ offenses.
“They’re pretty similar,” Biderman said. “I would say the biggest difference is probably the physicality that the Niners play with vs the speed that Miami plays with.”
Other topics discussed include:
- Who is the face of the franchise for San Francisco?
- The identity of a Kyle Shanahan-led team
- Under the radar performers: Javon Kinlaw, Deommodore Lenoir, Isaiah Oliver and Jauan Jennings
- Who is to credit for all the preseason ‘drama’ having seemed to dissipate?
