Right before he plays in the biggest game of his football career, Christian McCaffrey earned some more flowers at NFL Honors.

The San Francisco 49ers running back has been named the Offensive Player of the Year for the 2023 NFL season. McCaffrey was honored at The NFL Honors show Thursday, giving a speech to thank all those important in his life.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God, I feel so blessed to be standing up here right now.I want to thank my family, my fiancee, you guys know how much I love you. Your support means absolutely everything to me. All the sacrifices that you make for me, it’s not easy and doesn’t go unseen. I’m not up here without you guys,” Christian McCaffrey said when accepting the award Thursday.

The Colorado native has never been a man of individual awards however, focused solely on team accomplishments. This season has provided him with the ultimate opportunity to win his first Super Bowl with the 49ers, eager for the task ahead.

“Football is the greatest game on the planet. It’s the biggest team sport in the world. And we’re so lucky to get to enjoy it and the fact that I get to go to go to battle with you guys every week is one of my greatest honors because of the way you guys play football and inspire me every single day. I’m not up here without you, I love you guys. We got one more, let’s go finish it the right way,” he said.

Christian McCaffrey, 27, has been on a tear since being traded to Santa Clara at last season’s trade deadline. The versatile offensive weapon had a historical 2023, finishing with 2000-plus scrimmage yards for the first time since 2019. McCaffrey has accumulated more than 3,200 total yards and 31 TDs in 27 games in Red & Gold. He also tied Jerry Rice for most consecutive games with a touchdown (15).

McCaffrey was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year earlier Thursday, joining 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as the first duo on the same team to win the awards in NFL history.
