Coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics.
ABC News reports that the lawsuit is coming after the organizations told the pair that they “no longer wanted to purchase the Karolyis’ training facility,” citing negligence.
The organizations did not cite any direct claims against Bela and Martha, but said in a letter on Feb. 6:
“Employees and agents of BMK who worked at the Karolyi Ranch, through their actions and inactions, were negligent in their supervision of athletes, which caused the Plaintiffs in the Lawsuits to suffer bodily injury.”
Larry Nassar did practice at their facility, among other places. Bela and Martha Karolyi are seeking $1 million in damages.
