Colby Jones says he wants to win a Summer League championship

Sacramento Kings rookie guard Colby Jones spoke to the media following Friday’s practice at Golden 1 Center as his team prepared for Monday’s California Classic opener.
Jones, the 34th overall pick from last week’s NBA Draft, is set to make his home debut with his new team when Sacramento takes the floor against Golden State on Monday for their Summer League opener at Golden 1 Center.
The 21-year-old had a chance to speak with reporters following the Kings’ second day of mini-camp, where he shared his excitement about playing in the California Classic, his aspirations for Las Vegas Summer League, and much more.

Jones, a 6’5 wing that can play the two and three, was a threat from beyond the arc during the 2022-23 season, shooting 38 percent from three-point range while pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game.
The guard ranked 9th in the Big East in points per game, 15th in three-point field goal percentage, and 13th in steals per game.
Defense is an aspect of Jones’ game that has Kings fans feeling hopeful that the team can begin to turn things around on that end of the floor following a rough showing in 2022-23 (25th in defensive rating).
Sacramento fans will have a chance to watch Jones in action on Monday, July 3rd when the Kings face the Golden State Warriors at 7:00 PM PST at Golden 1 Center.
