The Sacramento Kings spent the offseason adding shooting and a defense-minded coach.
One of their new additions is rookie Keegan Murray. The Kings used their first-round pick to select the Iowa native and since joining the team, Murray has turned heads.
The number four pick in the 2022 draft led the Kings to a 3-0 record at the California Classic where he averaged just under 20 points and 8 rebounds. He followed that performance by being named to the All-NBA Summer League First Team and was crowned NBA Summer League MVP after he averaged just over 23 points and 7 rebounds in four games for the Kings.
During the preseason, he averaged 16 points before missing the final two games, and the first regular season game, due to health and safety protocols.
De’Aaron Fox joined The Draymond Green Show recently, where the two discussed multiple topics, including the impact and expectations surrounding Murray.
“It’s crazy how good he is, but he has that Tim Duncan demeanor,” Fox said. “He comes in and he’s the most efficient guy I’ve ever been around. You look over, if he’s just shooting, he’s not missing. [If] we play pickup a little bit before training camp, he doesn’t miss, he doesn’t have any wasted motion. Everything he does is just efficient; defensively, offensively, grabbing rebounds, boxing out…he kinda really makes the game look easy.”
Green responded to Fox’s thoughts by saying he has high expectations of Murray, too.
“That’s gonna be really cool to see that development and I’m looking forward to it,” Green said.
The two also talked about De’Aaron Fox canceling a draft workout with the Phoenix Suns in 2017, the trade that brought Domantas Sabonis to the Kings and what message that sent to Fox, the team’s playoff drought, and Mike Brown leaving Golden State as an assistant to become the Kings head coach.
