After taking Wednesday off, Deebo Samuel is returning to the practice field for the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers wide receiver will practice Thursday in a limited fashion, per coach Kyle Shanahan. Samuel is dealing with a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the majority of the NFC Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers. While the player did not suffer a fracture in his right shoulder, he was still in considerable pain over the past few days.
Despite that, Samuel looks set to practice for the first time this week, with or without pain. He was seen during the media portion of Wednesday’s session doing individual work off to the side.

Deebo Samuel, 28, suffered a similar injury to the same shoulder in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. That time it was a hairline fracture in need of surgery, knocking him out of action for two games. The 49ers went 0-3 during that stretch, missing both Samuel and left tackle Trent Williams for most of it.
Besides Samuel, there are no other 49ers’ injuries to report.
Samuel was in fact seen on the practice field Thursday, taking part in all drills during the media portion. Additionally, the wideout did not have a shoulder harness or protection on, suggesting that the pain has subsided considerably. He appears on track to suit up Sunday in the NFC Championship game.
