Roughly two months after announcing his retirement from the NFL, former San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould is heading back to the sidelines.

According to Michael O’Brien of the Chicago Sun-Times, Gould is set to become a high school football coach at Rolling Meadows High School. Rolling Meadows is a northwest suburb of Chicago, roughly 30 miles from the city.

Gould last played in the NFL during the 2022 season. The following season, San Francisco would replace him with rookie Jake Moody.

While a fan favorite in San Francisco, Robbie Gould started his career in Chicago, signing with the Bears in 2005. After 11 seasons in the Windy City, where he scored 1,207 points, he spent some time with the New York Giants before joining the 49ers in 2017. He spent six seasons with San Francisco.

He scored 1,961 points in his career, placing him 10th all-time in NFL scoring.

Gould knocked down 86.5% of regular-season field goals and 97.5% of his extra points. But, his biggest accomplishments came in the postseason, staying perfect throughout his career. In 16 playoff games, he hit 29 of 29 FGs and 39 0f 39 extra points.

The 41-year-old former NFL kicker isn’t the only 49ers connection to Rolling Meadows High School. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo attended that same high school.
