Former NBA player Damien Wilkins joined the Drive Guys Wednesday to discuss the upcoming season,

Wilkins joined the league in 2004 as a member of the Seattle Supersonics. After bouncing around the league and playing internationally, he became the general manager and Head of Basketball of Overtime Elite in September 2022.

A new documentary series “One Shot: Overtime Elite” follows players in the league and is being shown at the Oak Park Black Film Festival, which runs from Oct. 11 – 15.

Topics discussed include:

  • Which players from Overtime Elite can basketball fans expect to see in the NBA this season
  • Who is in the next group of potential big names coming out of Overtime Elite
  • How today’s NBA is faster than when he was in the league
  • The differences in how Wilkins was taught to play compared to how he’s teaching today’s young stars
  • Damien’s father Gerald and uncle Dominique played in the NBA and how his family is synonymous with basketball
  • Who were the toughest players to guard when he played in the NBA
