A former Stockton Kings player and his girlfriend are suspects in the kidnapping and murder of a woman whose remains were found in the Nevada desert, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Las Vegas Metro Police said Marayna Rodgers was reported missing on Dec. 7., which prompted an investigation.
Detectives determined that Rodgers was out with friends on Dec. 5 and had a pre-arranged meeting with her friend, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden, according to police. Harnden was going to bring her boyfriend, 27-year-old Chance Comanche, who was arrested for kidnapping and released from the Stockton Kings on Friday, Dec. 15.

More on former Stockton Kings forward Chance Comanche’s arrest
Comanche’s arrest came two days after Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for kidnapping, police said.
Both Comanche and Harnden were arrested after detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence that the two could be involved in the disappearance of Rodgers.
Las Vegas Metro Police said information obtained after their arrests allowed detectives to recover human remains in the desert in Henderson, Nevada. The Clark County Coroner later confirmed those remains were Rodgers, police said.
According to police, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office is expected to charge Harnden and Comanche with “open murder.”
Comanche has not been extradited to Las Vegas. Jail records show he remains booked in the Sacramento County Jail as of Sunday. Comanche is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, jail logs show.
