There have been five weeks of NFL football. And three times, a San Francisco 49ers player has won a Player of the Week award from the NFL. This time, the award goes to the defensive side and Fred Warner.
Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey took home the first two honors in Weeks 1 and 4, respectively.
Warner has been named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week. In the team’s dominating win over the Dallas Cowboys, Warner recorded eight tackles, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble. He’s the first 49ers player with a sack, interception, and forced fumble since Navorro Bowman did it in Week 17 of the 2013 season.

This is the third Defensive Player of the Week honors for San Francisco’s All-Pro linebacker. He is also now the fourth 49er player to earn the honors at least three times, joining teammate Nick Bosa (four times), Merton Hanks (five times), and Bryant Young (three times).
On the season, Fred Warner has 441 combined tackles, 29 solo tackles, and two sacks.
The NFC also recognized Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore as the Offensive Player of the Week for his big game against the Washington Commanders and kicker Blake Grupe of the New Orleans Saints.
