On the heels of following up a five-game winning streak with a four-game skid, the San Francisco Giants bounced back in a big way by taking a series from the defending champion Houston Astros.
The Giants got masterful pitching performances from Anthony DeSclafani (8 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 3 K) and Logan Webb (7.2 IP, 2 R, 5K) during two-straight wins against Houston on Tuesday and Wednesday to claim the three-game series at Minute Maid Park.
Wilmer Flores’ ninth-inning blast on Wednesday acted as the final blow for an Astros team that has struggled to an 8-11 start on their home field to open up this season.

It was a positive ending to a brief road trip overshadowed by some health issues in the Giants clubhouse that surfaced during San Francisco’s series in Mexico City against the San Diego Padres.
A stomach virus that resulted in gastrointestinal distress affected most of the team, something that Webb highlighted during his postgame media availability.
“The whole trip was very grindy,” Webb said. “It’s been a mental grind, it’s been a physical grind. I think three-quarters of our clubhouse has [stomach issues]. It’s a mental and physical grind. It’ll be good to get back home. Hopefully the [stomach issues] away, and we’ll be better in a couple days. I’m happy we were able to come out of this with the last two wins.”
The Giants are now set to play 12 of their next 16 games at Oracle Park, starting with a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.
